H. C. Andersen’s House

Odense is the hometown of the well-known Danish author Hans Christian Andersen for which the city takes a special pride in. Multiple festivals and events dedicated to the memory of the author are organized throughout the year. Appreciation for his life and literary works are felt in many parts of the city through sculptures based on his fairy tales. You can even follow Christian Andersen’s “footsteps” a 2 ½ km walking route, that will reveal beautiful spots in the center of Odense. You can get more information about the sculptures and access the map of the route in this link, if you decide to find the sculptures on your own. But we are here, to take you on a different tour!

We have organized a guided tour to the newly built H.C. Andersen museum which is located in the heart of the city, right next to his childhood home. The visit will take you to a fascinating world of the author’s creative world and fairy tales.

The visit will start outside of the museum where you will have a guided tour of the garden and learn about the construction, architecture and what to explore once you are indoors. The tour will take 30 minutes after which you can enjoy all the stories the museum has to tell you.

Inside the museum the latest technology will be your guide. Headset with multiple language options are available such that you can interact with numerous installations of the museum.

The museum also has a Cafe and a Gift shop where you can grab a quick lunch and buy some souvenirs to take home with you. Please remember to sign up for the museum visit upon registration for the conference. Tickets will be allocated on a “first come first served” basis as we have a limited number of spots.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The tour will take place on the 26th of October, in the morning hours leaving enough time for you to also join the LEGO House trip. Since the museum can host only a limited number of visitors you have the possibility of choosing different time slots for your tour. The first time slot starts at 10:00 and ends at 11:30 allowing you enough time to catch the first bus to the LEGO House which leaves at 12:00. The second time slot starts at 11:30 and ends at 13:00 leaving you enough time to catch the second bus to the LEGO House which is planned to leave at 13:30. You will receive more information about the meeting point to board the bus on the day of the visit.
